Scholarship Fund for Higher Studies:
Right from the beginning, TCV have taken a parental responsibility for children. Therefore, TCV support to the children does not end when a child leaves a village or school. TCV purpose is to ensure that every child is able to stand on his/her own feet and contribute to the community when the times come. Given this purpose, TCV set up an Educational Reserve Fund in the early 70s to take care of the further education and training of our students when they leave school. Today, under this program, TCV have over 1800 students, who are attending different colleges and training institutes in India, doing a range of career courses and training – given their ability and aptitude. TCV spent an average of Rupees 50,000-60,000 for a student on our higher studies program annually. With many students loosing their sponsors at this age, TCV find it very challenging to meet the high expenditure, the highest of all our running programs. Many College Students goes to Indian Universtiy & hostel and also some goes to higher studies college and hostel manage by TCV as below.
1) Dalai Lama Institute of Higher Eduacation
2) SOS Tibetan Youth Hostel
3) TCV Banglore youth Hostel
4) TCV Mondgod hostel
As we reflect on the work of TCV, we are happy to see so many of TCV educated youths doing outstanding work within our exile community in various services – ranging from doctors, engineers, teachers, civil service to health workers, farmers, artisans etc. And of course, many of them have become responsible parents, capable of bringing up their own children as Tibetans and good human beings. We are proud to say that many have returned to work in Central Tibetan Administration & Tibetan Children's village school.
SO LETS CELEBRATE TO EDUCATE MANY MORE YOUNGER GENERATION.
